Niles Philips - Ill At Ease (feat Tonkin) by Duendiness

Sola Rosa - These Words (feat. Spikey T) (JPOD remix)

Gotye ft Kimbra - somebody that i used to know

Now...we have this thing going on with my wife:    on sundays...once our lovely lively kiddos are nice and cosy in bed, we light a fire, open a (sometimes 2) bottle of an (expertidly selected) red wine and plate up a selection of (expertidly selected) cheeses and we play our old records on our Technics in back to back. these sessions bring back some great memories and of course dug up some amazing tunes.warning:it's pretty chilled and it's the idea really.
have you ever been raving with a cheese platter? .........that's what i thought.

1st one is an incredibly chilled and meditative hip hop gem from dj krush and friends.a band called RYU.Released in 1999.
Ryu - song from the far east by Duendiness

following up,my favorite tune of 2010 (si si Mr Blundetto!) revisited by THE Blunde' himself in a trippier version than the original but each version is equally outstanding.featuring the unique voice of Hindi Zahra.
Blundetto is coming back with a new ep in january and i can't wait for it.in the meantime listen to this:

BADBADNOTGOOD

No this is not the name of Blundetto's new lp but it's coming soon.THE SOUND IS AMAZING and it's from crap de crap youtube so i just can imagine the full version of this teaser on technics and studio speakers! (slight bemol for the vocals but they might grow in me).

here instead is a 9 minutes piece of fusion by Badbadnotgood.......pffff ....well for those who like labeling and categories, this could be classified under JAZZ//HIPHOP/JAM...to me it's just brilliant musicians doing what they are exceptional at:playing music:
here on their version of doom

Another cover/version of MGMT - Kids by bluegrass band Dr Fox's Old Timey String Band.

SUNDAY

SUNSET 'N' GUITAR

I love YouTube for all the very good reasons....is that everyone can discover amazing talent by just browsing along; whether it's already been discovered or it's a dude playing his guitar on the street in Botswana.Extra ordinary talent.Today i focused on guitar and also (for obscure reasons) on sunset too: enjoy!

How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent?

YO FOLKS!!
I'm sorry i have (a lot) less time than i used to for posting and faffing around on the blog but here a few things i have enjoyed lately:
I've almost finished this novel by James Frey and i'm really enjoying it.Los Angeles City is  the main character of the book and its "duende" is illustrated by the lives of random people living in the city.Good book !

OKAY THEN...

A good friend of mine pointed me in the direction of these nutters: BURAKA SOM SISTEMA...
Not exactly my cup of tea ( i think i'm just too old) but the video is creative and bloody hell...where do they get their energy from?

Also this little gem from Sofrito's vault...sorry no download but these guys are trying to make a living out of it and this has just been released.I just received it in the post myself, if you like this you can get it ICI.

DUENDINEEDLES

Blending 2 or 3 tunes (or more) together is a bit like cocktail making or cooking:It's an art.You have to select carefully your ingredients and mix them together using special skills.the human factor then kicks in.If you're very good at it you can obtain brilliant results:Our man Jimi Needles certainly has duende!.

INVITATION...INSPIRATION

Another excellent post by the Principaute of Ballard and even more intelligent the invitation for the readers/listeners to find a funkier video than the one the he posted (sorry i don't even know your real first name). The bar was set rather high in the first place and the "Bim sala bim" answer was a very good choice too.
I love my funk too and took the invitation quite literally and tried to find a funkier one.
Oh no no no...i did not do it for competition sake,I did it for funk sake...here are my personal favorites: (i'm sorry i selected too many,it was too difficult to choose...thanks POB for the invitation and more importantly  for the inspiration, it was a subtle and imaginative idea,we should do that more often..that was fun)

WTF?!  It's funk to me...

woooooooooooooooh and all that funk i obviously forgotten.....

ALL THAT GLITTERS....(can sometimes be gold)

I thought it was almost impossible to be even remotely cool  in a warming suit...but i was well wrong...Marvin here proves that you can whilst rehearsing before  a gig (poor sound quality but the soul in def' there)
Maestro..if you like to...

AMY AMY AMY

I will try to spare you the requiem in D minor from Wolfgang but I'm sad that Amy Winehouse didn't make it.
Always a part of me believed that she'd be strong enough to find her way out of the wood.I lost friends this way and all i can say about it.. is.......when you are there...you're on your own..regardless of who you are or how many people love you or want to save you. This is your own fight...
I've seen her live and  yes... she was all over the place, making random jokes....some of them funny some of them well i just didn't get them, ordering trillions of cocktails from the bar between songs  that someone would take all the way through the crowd and she'd drank them like actimels. She was very needy, insecure, manically playing with her skirt.....it was sometimes painful to watch.........  but the moment she started singing it was just pure magic.
R.I.P Amy....Thanks for all the beautiful notes....

WALKING ON THE BEACHES, LOOKING AT THE PEACHES

Bonjour,
I haven't really started my summer break just yet that's why i haven't been blogging that much lately.Been busy at work.(or pretending i was)
Also everyone is enjoying the summer (or not so much of it) outside as opposed to behind a computer screen and as a result fresh music is on a stand-by mode or i couldn't find it efficiently enough.
However...here's what i found interesting:YOU KNOW THE DEAL BY NOW, RANDOMNESS IN.....

THE GOODNESS!!!

Really like this video....

love the song anyway....is it really a remix?

GOODNESS IN THE RANDOMNESS

good evening everyone!

as far as i'm concerned there are only 6 of you out there following this blog and I AM of them so 5 really, but never mind i know that the tunes tunes will be appreciated and that all it matters..so here we go...i'm not going for the hype here...
someone told me once in Tanzania as i was trying to bargain a dusty and broken artisan
African mask "old is gold my friend...old is gold"...i knew the mask vendor was trying to fool me but the formula worked anyway.

Arlean Brown - I'm a streaker baby
this tune is to me, absolutely perfect.love the rawness, the harmonica, the bass line? don't even get me started...no one is writing tunes like that any more.i'm not blaming anyone i know it's hard to beat this.

Baltimore _K_s friendly edit_.mp3
beautiful song that cried for a dub input...that's something done

Marion Black - who knows
What can i say? this song never fails to get me snapping and grooving..even my kids get down on it...and that's something i almost can't explain but the bass line has got to be involved in the effect produced.

James Kind - California lady
another close to my heart song.just perfect vocals and guitars sound....good James....what happened to you by the way? couldn't find any other song of yours any where? well done numero group for your amazing spade action here.

Sekoilu Seestyy _finland_.mp3
Obviously you would as music "connaisseurs" recognize the sample from the Endtroducing album of DJ Shadow.not many albums had such an impact on me as this one did.perhaps Portishead, dummy and kruder and dorfmeister kd sessions or Tricky "Maxinquaye" at the period...on the more commercial side..The fugees were also equally refreshing.
